Disabled by a poorly configured network migration and suffering downtime, one medical equipment company turned to Cole Informatics to get things up and running
For eight years, CCC Medical Equipment has been in the business of helping people. The Camden, Tenn.-based full-service medical equipment supplier offers a wide array of home medical equipment and supplies ranging from wheelchairs, mobility and bath safety products, to incontinence, therapeutic, and diabetic supplies.
As a small business operating out of five locations, and with only 15 employees, CCC Medical Equipment is highly dependent on cost-effective technology solutions to conduct its business. Voice-over-IP (VoIP), paperless billing, and fax via email are all essential tools to this durable medical equipment company.
Originally running an HP server and a few individual PC workstations, the small business needed to migrate to a network-based operation with the ability to do multiple backups per day. CCC Medical Equipment’s IT support company at the time did a less-than-stellar job setting it all up, in turn prompting Jimmy Montgomery, Owner and Operations Director, CCC Medical Equipment, to look elsewhere for help.
“We started having problems with our IT systems shortly after the network migration, and it didn’t take long for us to realize that our previous network service provider couldn’t correct the situation,” Montgomery explained. “We knew about Cole Informatics through our business contacts so we reached out to Terry Cole to see if he could get us back on our feet.”
The situation: After migrating to a network-based operation, frequent downtime was knocking CCC Medical Equipment offline, and in turn, hurting business.
“Cole Informatics installed and implemented a VoIP solution, thereby streamlining our phone operations, and making expansion to new remote sites efficient,” he said.
The Cole Informatics solution: Reconfigure their Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 to right incorrect setup issues, deploy ParterSAFE business continuity services and ParterProtect managed IT support, and implement a commercial grade firewall. Also deployed an IP-based, on-premise phone system connecting all remote offices and reducing phone bills. Replaced the aging and complex Small Business Server with a Windows 2012 server and implemented offsite hosted Microsoft Exchange professional email services.
Cole Informatics also deployed dual monitors at most employees’ desks, thereby improving each worker’s productivity.
Furthermore, Cole Informatics continues to be CCC Medical Equipment’s primary IT support team, providing continual monitoring and proactive technology management, reactive support for employees as required, and general technology and operational consultative services.
“Cole Informatics fixed our technology problems, and they provide us with the peace of mind we need knowing we’ll no longer suffer from downtime,” Montgomery said. “We depend on them like other members of our team.
